About Valheim Server

Valheim Server is an independent, community-run help resource for people who host their own Valheim dedicated server. It exists because the difference between “we play when the host is online” and “the world is always up” is just a bit of setup — and that setup is much easier with clear, tested instructions in front of you.

Everything here is written for players who want to self-host for a small group of friends: step-by-step setup for Windows, Linux, and Docker; server configuration; installing and syncing mods with BepInEx; automated backups; admin and console commands; and the performance tweaks that keep a growing world running smoothly. The guides favor exact, copy-pasteable commands and real file paths over hand-waving, and they warn you before any step that could lose data.

We assume you own a legitimate copy of the game. This site does not cover piracy, cheats meant to grief other servers, or gameplay walkthroughs — there are great wikis for boss strategy already. Our lane is the server: getting it up, keeping it up, and making it yours.

Corrections

The technical world moves — game updates change defaults, and modding tools evolve. If you spot something out of date or wrong in a guide, treat the official game notes and the current BepInEx documentation as the source of truth, and double-check destructive steps against your own backups before running them.
